Since arriving home from Texas 2 days ago, I've been missing my family. But if you tell them I told you that, I will hunt you down and throw acid on your scrapbooks.

This Smashbook page is special to me because of the journaling. It's all about learning to be happy by myself and being confident enough to go places alone. It's very "real." I sort of hate that word when it's used as a synonym for "genuine," but after this page, I can see the value in using it. I think the photo I included reflects the feeling I was trying to communicate perfectly.

This spread is all over the place. It includes the first photo I took using the Instax camera I got on ebay for $50! I discuss my love of my friend, Old Paul and my favorite Philly eateries. My favorite part of this page is the koala sketch done by New Paul. He included the caption, "Hi Leslie!! My toots smell like eucalyptus!" HA! Koala + Fart Joke = Ridiculously Cool. It's been proven by mathematicians at Princeton. Lots of fun memorabillia on this one. Speaking of memorabilia, I need to do a layout about the funny way my mother says "memrabeeeya" and other words.

This one just tells the story of the strangest crops ever... I stuck some packaging from the supplies I bought that day on the page with washi tape. I also misted a bit just for kicks.

I had tons of memorabillia from my trip to Niagra Falls, so this page was a good place for all of it. In fact, I've been smashbooking like crazy. I really like this form of memory keeping. Unlike scrapbooking, I don't really worry about telling a complete story. If I don't have pictures, it doesn't matter. If my pages don't have proper balance or my elements aren't grounded, well, I don't really care. It's fun.

This first page is simply about all kinds of stuff I like. You see a pic of Caroline, a koala a friend cut for me with her cricut, a sale tag from H&M, and all kind of other stuf. Just for fun, I colored the little doodled bird and the "I like this" bubbles with prisma pencils. I also used an Amy Tangerine clip. I love her clips; they're perfect for smashing. I like how I am able to include all sorts of scrapbooking supplies on my Smash layouts that I like but would not ordinarily put on a regular layout. I would have a hard time using that vintage cherry card from October Afternoon on a page. I also love the Smash Pads with their fun prompts and cute icons!

This one is all about my Ikea love. Yep, Ikea makes cheap crap, but I love it! You may be picking splinters of wood from your butt for weeks after your dining room chair collapses from underneath you, but at least your room looks cute! I added pictures from their catalog, labels, and tags. Besides my love of Ikea design, I also journaled about my love of their instituional, cafeteria-style food. I don't know why I like their food so much. I think it reminds me of the food I ate at school as a kid. Seeing as I was a participant in government provided free lunch programs throughout my childhood, I am perhaps mentally transported to the days when I gorged myself on mashed potatoes that had been not-so-lovingly slopped onto a tray by a beast of a woman donning a hairnet.

This one is just a page full of black and white stuff that I had fun sticking together. I used stuff torn from design books and clipped from Studio Calico coupons. My pages are always colorful, so this was an adventurous departure from my typical style. I was inspired by the fun animal doodles gracing the page.

I had fun using all sorts of stickers and die-cuts that I would have a difficult time using on my scrapbook layouts here. I added some labels and tags torn from Christmas gifts this year. I journaled about gift-giving in my family and documented my lists this year. I love how this looks like just random crap jumbled on a page.

Smashbooks remind me of the first scrapbook I got when I was in the 6th grade. I thoughtlessly plastered its pages with anything I fancied, saving every little note that was passed to me in class and every receipt from every punk rock band tee I bought during the "I'm a bad girl" phase of my life. Kind of funny that as hard as I wanted to rebel, I still scrapbooked... I laugh thinking about my 13 year-old self begging my mama to let me get piercings and dye my hair blue pasting the handmade valentines my grandma made me into a scrapbook.Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-24730468208580096822011-10-05T12:23:00.000-04:002011-10-05T12:23:35.006-04:00Holy Cheap Crap, Batman! Studio G stuff at Wal-MartLet me begin by saying that I love Wal-Mart. And I love it in a completely unironic way. Everyone I know would rather have potato chip crumbs sprinkled in their eyes than step foot in one either because they take issue with Wal-Mart's business practices or because they just don't like cheap crap. I, on the other hand, love the fact that I can stop in a Wal-Mart and pick up a brand new pair of jeans for $9.97, which is exactly what I did yesterday. I also love the sterile feeling and florescent lighting in Wal-marts. I like the antiseptic, institutional ambiance. It's like they know that I'm there for the cheap crap, so they don't have to try fanangle me by playing good music or covering their walls with mosaics made of sea kelp and dog hair. By doing so, I feel like they respect my intelligence. So all the cool kids can have their over-priced Anthropologies or their high-end department stores.

That being said, I have NEVER found anything in the crafting sections of Wal-Mart worth spending my pennies on until yesterday. I mean, my Philadelphia Wal-Mart's scrapbooking section typically consists of Sticko branded foiled beach stickers and gluesticks. So it turns out that they are now selling Studio G stuff. You may know Studio G from AC Moore and Michael's. They're the people who make those (sometimes) cute $1 acrylic stamp sets and blocks and glitter glue, along with an occasional ink pad. Walmart was selling 2 lines of their stuff. First, they had a florally, multi-purpose sort of line that I wasn't that crazy about. It wasn't bad, it just looked a bit old-fashioned and cheap to me, but I'm a supply snob. Then they had an adorable Halloween line! Here's what I got:

And all of this stuff was just 97 cents each, even the paper pack. And I think those little characters are really cute! Did you see the trick or treat chipboard banner? Very trendy! They also had tons of those acrylic stamps you can get at AC Moore, inks, bling, stickers, chipboard letters, and little punches. Has anyone else seen this stuff in their Wal-Mart? I wonder if any other lines will be coming out.Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-91338452318231196322011-06-30T20:25:00.003-04:002011-07-01T08:44:30.216-04:00My Smash Book is off to a SMASHING start
<img border="0" height="251" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9XBsenzOXwy1S31FbdGZfpI1LecwHo3agOSH1zjPmeIXJczxevRMDW02WrmveDIkADBdRVd_IVq550Ix6vNTwaUb8xAnoArc6e_IQ0vEmKmjP4Iig87dgQx6wUv2rXCuZSRp6UL9jxD8/s400/page+1+smash.jpg" width="400" />

Wow, that title is so cheesy it's almost funny. ALMOST.

I know the picture is kind of crummy. I had to take it around 7:30 tonight so I could make the deadline for the Smash Book challenge at Your Scrapbook Stash. I'm grateful for the challenge because it motivated me to start. I put this together pretty fast. I tried not to "think" too much. Something tells me my Smash Book will have more journaling than my layouts, and I didn't think that was possible!

So I added a train ticket from when I was riding home from scrapbooking with Stephanie, and I really wanted to start an entry, but I was kind of paralyzed by fear. Which was stupid. I also added a picture, some stickers, alphas, and a journaling block. And ALOT of journling.Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-4490045822099954242011-06-30T19:58:00.002-04:002011-06-30T20:01:29.027-04:00My pirate's booty
<img border="0" height="306" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEOkidmpYIZ_n3Yontn2CMtF7dAnatEn-UXQIXPaEnRqOC2vlovRY61aFwoAFtmy3_w7ehi-9MKtHkUESOAksjKBFcF0C56X9t3auKYKsRQS8Q_U3yKqBZdH0rD560IeETL1olSxy5s2U/s400/lifes++a+beach+1.jpg" width="400" />

If you look closely (and I urge you to do so because this took me a long-ass time to do), you will see that I fussy-cut flowers from Cosmo Cricket paper and layered them using pop-dots to make a fun, little, dimensional embellishment. I also fussy-cut the waves and added stickles to make it look like that white foamy stuff on the tops of waves. You know what I mean? I think it happens when a wave "crests?" I don't know. I apologize for my lack of nautical knowledge. My years as a drunken sailor, laughing it up with my friends Peg Leg and Black Beard, are long gone. Although the damage from the scurvy remains. (Yes, I bought into the hype)So when I first heard of these, I thought they seemed sort of dumb. I thought they were regular notebooks that came with a pen. Then, I saw them at my LSS, and I sort of fell in love... (Here is link to the Smash blog if you want to find out more). Part of me is super-inpired, and the other part of me feels sort of like it's "cheating" because the pages have doodles and sayings and artwork that were NOT created by yours truly. Rather, they were produced by some corporate drone at K & Company who probably ran a gazillion focus groups to figure out what those doodles and sayings and artwork should look like in order to appeal to the biggest, most lucrative, market. But I suppose I buy prima flowers and die-cuts and other pre-made embellishments for my scrapbooks, so I guess I shouldn't feel that bothered. But then again, I want this book to be super-personal and all ME... However, the bottom line is that I like being inspired to preserve memories, and at this point, I'm very inspired by this cute book. My mind is like an oscillating fan, I tell you... A very fast oscillating fan.

So anyway, I wanted to share some pictures of the book I bought (the red, "doodle"-themed one). I know alot of people are trying to decide which book to get (or whether they even want a book to begin with)without seeing them in person, so I hope this helps.

First, here is me with my new Smashfolio. Notice it's upside down in the picture because I was trying to hurry and take all of these photos in Rittenhouse Park, and I didn't want people to think I was unbalaced, like a very small but significant portion of the people who loiter there. It's also a mirror-image because I used my camera's front-facing camera. So basically, if you turn this picture upside down and then stand in front of a mirror, you will see what a Smash book looks like!

I made the yellow flower by snipping 2 different sizes of punched circles and then layering them using popdots. I used a sketch from Scraptastic Club.
I loved the Hullabaloo kit that I was given to work with. The patterned papers in the kit came from three different manufacturers (Imaginisce, Echo Park, and My Mind's Eye), and the colors coordinated perfectly. I made three layouts, one card, and a bookmark, but I'm just going to share three projects here since these are the only ones on the Lucky Girls blog for now.

<img border="0" height="396" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi135LiNUb31VKi6qVl-pj_1X0cLStwLbbR2tZIBn4vUBGzPI_kEgrbJfKlIPhPLbI47_3Atqym1ufZNiVWkolfwsX32WR9eU2fz0A5x-OJ8g7wPZOeSKR0vy9ODxtK_ieL4oq4b4EkzqM/s400/artist.jpg" width="400" />

<img border="0" height="212" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdcaVE72_WcleENRYdd5uRvbH9i3ruu2oVmM_DVAg_ZlGSyiqoKb-WPxCyn6H_UypdTlGu2wDj-kuBXXQ0Qg2cZXtxqqTy2UAeKUyWgpO5Lqh6GLQr33KAgxa2k0fMjwtm0h3hRgQ54Bk/s320/artist+closeup.jpg" width="320" />
I LOVE this picture of my little hooligan. I cracked up when I saw her "defacing" this wall, and then I grabbed my camera! I texted this picture to her family with the caption, "Little Graffiti Artist," which I used as my title. I misted the background to look like spray paint, and I had some fun with the MME twine from the kit. I made a border for the entire layout, and I also lined up a few lengths to create a cool effect between 2 pieces of patterned paper. I used a sketch from Sketches in Thyme, and I'm entering this into the challenge at These are a Few of My Favorite Things to scrap your favorite artwork. Besides the mist and the little letter stickers, all of the supplies are from the Lucky Girls kit.
I created three layouts and 2 cards for my reveal, but I have plenty of goodies left over for more projects.
First up is this layout I made using sketches from Sketches in Thyme and the Scrappiest. I also used a blue, orange, white, and yellow color scheme for the challenge at Design Dollies. Except for the little paper drink umbrella, all of the supplies I used were from my Sweet Peach kit! I fussy cut the butterflies out of a sheet of American Crafts paper, and I added pieces of ribbon to make a big sun. I'm also entering this into the challenge at Scraptasic Club to make a summer-themed layout with an altered item (my fussy-cut butterflies).
I'm entering these into the challenge at the Paper Variety to make a guy-themed project. One of these cards is for my Daddy for Father's Day. I know it's sort of girlie, but my dad is very much in touch with him feminine side!Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-8844621277632857872011-06-07T23:16:00.001-04:002011-06-08T23:37:22.191-04:00My scraps got TalentMy Scraps and More is hosting My Scraps Got Talent, a 2 month-long scrapbooking competition with games and challenges! Head over to check out the details. It looks like lots of fun prizes are up for grabs!Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-87447460202456580242011-06-02T21:34:00.001-04:002011-06-02T21:36:05.459-04:00Lucky Girl Crafts and the Effects of Watching Too Much "Law and Order: SVU"I'm a Guest DT at Lucky Girl Crafts this month, and if you've never checked them out, you really should! And no, I'm not just saying that because I got a free kit this month! They are having a huge sale; their kits are 5 for $100! That's a savings of around 45 smackaroos! Just use discount code LUCKYBDAY at checkout.
I really like their kits because the papers you get papers that aren't too "matchy matchy." You could create several layouts from one kit and have each of them look completely different from the others. They also include product from lots of different companies like Echo Park, Prima, MME, Pink Paislee, American Crafts, Making Memories, Imaginise, Jenni Bowlin, and Cosmo Cricket. As a fan or variety, I like that!

Also, the Lucky Girls are making final preparations for this weekend's blog party, which will run June 3-5 and feature lots of inspiration and scrappy gifts for readers. It all stars tomorrow at http://www.luckygirlcraftkits.blogspot.com/.

In other (not particularly noteworthy) news, I've been watching lots and lots of SVU on my phone because the Internet that I steal from my neighbors has been craptastic lately. They need to pay their bills on time so I can watch my shows, damn it! Anyway, there is not much that my mother and I agree about. In fact, we argue constantly about whether it's acceptable to end a sentence with a preposition. I say it is, and she says it isn't, but she doesn't know what she's talking about. Did you get that? Talking ABOUT! Take that, Mama! But we both agree that Christopher Meloni is H-O-T-T. She's calls him "Testosteroni." She's so punny! I don't understand how a middle-aged man with such a bad receding hair line can be so... pultritudinous.

Also, I want to be friends with Mariska Hargitay. Hell, I want to BE Mariska Hargitay.

Well, my recent binge of SVU viewing (or as I call it, SVUing) has had the unfortunate effect of making me look for dead people wherever I go. I was at the park today with Gidget, and there was a homeless person wrapped in a Sesame Street blanket on a bench. Although it's quite common to see homeless people doing homeless things like sleeping on benches while wrapped in Sesame Street blankets, my first thought was, "OH CRAP! DEAD BODY!" And I can't cross railroad tracks or walk by shallow bodies of water without inspecting the premises for corpses. Hell, I haven't let Gidget play with a ball in the grass since watching that episode where that kit throws a frisbee that lands feet away from a cold one. And by "cold one" I mean "dead person" not "beer."Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-24234874854841216482011-05-30T19:02:00.005-04:002011-05-31T18:03:31.221-04:00these ain't my kids, but I love 'em, damn itI don't know why, but deep down inside, there is a part of me that feels weird for scrapbooking the kids I nanny. I guess I'm okay with it, but I feel like others think it's strange, and I feel like they are judging me. Other scrapbookers always ask me, "Do you give those pages to their parents?" and I'm like, "No...They're for me..." I need to get over this negative feeling, because the truth is, I spend 35 hours a week with Caroline and about 10 with M.J. They are a large part of my life, and I love them both so much. In fact, I should be proud of the fact that I love these kids and my job so much that I want to remember them.
So without further ado, here's a page about Caroline, who I have taken to calling "Gidget" in recent weeks. It suits her. I combined sketches at Creative Scrappers (155) and The Scrappiest (119). It's also for the challenge at Crop Addict to include memorabilia. I added one of Caroline's little hair clips to the corner of one of my photos. I buy her about a pack of these every 2 weeks because unless you sneak attack her when you put them in, she will pull them out. Last, this is for the open challenge at Sketches in Thyme.
This ones about M.J. and his crystal meth-like energy level. I combined 2 sketches for this one (Punky Scraps Sketch 119, and Creative Scrappers Sketch 154). This was inspired by Wendi's favorite layout for the scraplift challenge at Design Dollies. I lifted the striped stars, scallops, fun mix of patterns, and overall page layout. This is also for the challenge to "show us the boys" at Paper Issues.Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-22589530725859387972011-05-30T15:47:00.000-04:002011-05-30T15:47:45.008-04:00I can't believe I scrapped FOR-MAN MILLS

This first layout is about a trip I took to FOR-MAN MILLS with my friends. If you've never been to a FOR-MAN MILLS, I suggest you don't worry over that fact. But do click on this link so you can hear the funny song. FOR-MAN MILLS!
Anyway, this is for the May 123 challenge to use fire engine red, a stitched title, and the word "fun." It's also for the challenge at Scrapbookers Annoymous to create a patterend paper and 3 embellishments with stamps. I stamped my yellow Bo Bunny paper with a Studio Calico Stamp and my three brown labels were made with a Stampin' Up! stamp. I also used yellow, pop dotted alphas, and paint splatters for Mission 41 at Mission to Create. I used sketch 118 from The Scrappiest. Last, this is for the challenge at Punky Scraps to use twine, a stamp, stitching, paint, and no cardstock.
I doodled the hell out of this one, and I really love how it turned out! I doodled borders, my title, and around the circle accents. This is for the challenge to scrap an important female in your life and include at least 20 words of journaling at Scrap the Girls. Ha! That was an easy one for me! My color combo was inspired by the picture at Lollipop Ladies. My "5 things I love abot you" theme was inspired by the challenge at My Scraps and More. I did this for two other challenges, but I didn't finish on time. I love these pictures of my friend, Paul. I discovered these while uploading pictures from my camera. This is for the ACOT-sponsored contest at Page Maps. It's also for the challenge at These are a Few of My Favorite Things to scrapbook some favorite photos and the challenge at ScrapFit to scrap a guy in your life. It's also for the Sweet Peach Blog Shoppe "SPRING" challenge. I used scallops, patterned paper, red, ink, numbers, and green. Last, this is for the Cosmo Cricket blog challenge to use mini deck papers. Besides the kraft cardstock, all of the papers that I used are from the Social Club mini deck. In fact, to make the longer strips of paper, I adhered two mini deck sheets together. I also used Cosmo cardstock stickers and mini letter stickers. Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-76996331444839220042011-05-04T20:34:00.001-04:002011-05-04T20:48:20.005-04:00Top 10 signs it's time to clean your apartment10. The fire alarm in your building goes off at 3am, and instead of thinking, "OH CRAP! I have to save my scrapbooks and koalas!" you think, "OH CRAP! If the fire department sees my apartment, it will be labeled a fire hazzard and condemned!"

9. You no longer refer to your apartment as "your apartment." You now call it, "the apartment I share with some roaches and a couple of mice."

8. You sleep on 1/3 of your bed because the other 2/3 is covered in scrapbooking supplies. And it's not really a bed anymore. It's more of a crumb buffet.

7. You get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and you slip on pizza box and land with your arm in an empty picture frame, your foot in a gift bag full of green tissue paper from Christmas, and your head on one of those Entertainment coupon books that you've been looking for for a year. You curse your luck because you wish your head landed on the gift bag full of tissue paper because it's softer than the coupon book.

6. You fear that if you brought the children you nanny over to your place, they would be lost and floundering in the junk. You consider taking them to the ball pit at Chuck E. Cheese's for training but decide the balls wouldn't be deep enough.

5. Not only can you not find your TV remote, you can't find your TV.

4. A TV crew from Hoarders comes by, and they ran away after you open your door.

3. Scientists from America's top universities are vying for access to your kitchen sink to study the new species that has evolved from the crud in the drain. Researchers hypothesize that if current rate of evolution that they have observed continutes, the creatures in said sink will be able to talk in 3 weeks.

2. There are enough empty diet coke cans lining your window sill that at a rate of about 2 cents a can, a homeless man could cash them in and eat 3 square meals a day for a month.

1. Your apartment smells like tires.Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-40452472951350403372011-05-01T19:32:00.004-04:002011-05-01T20:39:02.473-04:00Layout dump

This first layout is for the Friday Fun Day challenge at Lucky Girl Crafts. I was inspired by Natalie's note holder. Basically, her cute project inspired me to use a scalloped kraft envelope on my page, which I think looks alot like her note holder. I like how she embellished the actual closure of her enevelope, so I replaced the white string that came with the envelope with green twine and added little heart stickers at the ends to mimic to her stars.
First, it's for the April Sassafrass blog challenge. I used their Indie Girl line, which I love because of the unique color combo. I cut up a scalloped border sticker to make a banner, and I also cut the feather from a sticker. Second, it's for Scrapfit challenge #41 to create a homemade flower. I created an accordian-folded flower out of a strip of paper that I punched with a border punch. I was also inspired by the colors and the grid-style layout in the Etsy collage provided for the Candy Shop Designs April challenge. My color scheme and the shimmer from my misting was inspired by the Easter egg picture at Lollipop Ladies. The Show Us Your Stuff April challenge was to use a button in a creative way. I topped my homeade flower with a button tied with twine. Last, the What's Up Wednesday challenge at Sweet Peach Crop Shoppe was to use mist. I used Smooch on my background paper and on the raw chipboard letters in my title.
I can't believe that previous sentence just flowed from my brain to my fingertips so naturally. Apparently, you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the girl. But I digress. I made a pleated border which I attached with staples, and I made a homemade paper bow. I also made the flower, and I've discovered a way to simplify the flower-making process that involves staples and a few scissor snips. If I had any sort of motvation, I would share it here, step-by-step. But hey, I can't even get motivated to take my shoes off before I go to bed half the time.

Anyway, I was inspired by Nicole Brenna's layout at XOXO Girls. I liked how she clustered here flowers. It's not a close lift, but I think you can see the inspiration. This is also for the April challenges at Get Picky, Stuck!, Pencil Lines, and Sketch Inspiration. It's also for the challenge at 2 Peas to use a die-cut. Last, it was inspired by the sketch at Sweet Peach Crop Shop, also. I'm not a big fan of circles, so I replaced the circle in the sketch with a square.

Please excuse my numerous, self-aggrandizing layout closeup pictures. But hey, you could learn ALOT by examining EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL. of my projects. Like how to creatively mask pet hair and pink-colored Froot Loop milk spills on your pages!

Anyway, so more about my blog post title. The other day, the adorable, 16 month-old child that I nanny (is nanny a verb?) tooted on my head while we were cuddling in bed together. You may ask how her butt came to be positioned on the back of my head, but that's a story for another day. Well, she started laughing hysterically, her little fists hitting the bed in a state of utter giddiness. I ask you, how did this sweet little creature come to think that passing gas is funny? It's not like I laughed or showed any type of reaction. And no, that's not a rhetorical question. I have an answer. She laughed because farts are naturally funny. It's human nature to laugh at farts. Even a toddler, who has been sheltered from all cultural sources of potty humor, thinks farts are funny. The journaling says, " This kid is such a performer. Whether she's being "bossy," kissing her reflection in the mirror, or wearing her bowl on her face, she loves to make us laugh! In fact, as soon as she does something silly, she'll look up at me to see if I'm laughing! And boy, do people ever laugh! Of course, I think sometimes SHE laughs more at her antics than we do. Caroline, this is one of the many reasons I love spending my days with you. I truly have the best job in the world! And she's laughing at the dog as I write this!"

This is for three challenges. First, it's for the Imaginisce challenge to create a paper piecing. I made a cute little banner out of pop dotted triangles and stars. I also doodled and added a bit of twine. I also used a sketch from Sketchy Thursdays and used the color comination from the collage given at Scrap the Girls. I love this layout because the colors, embellishments, and design all help tell my story! I'm totally patting myself on the back right now. Heh heh...

And yeah, to everyone one complaining that I don't post enough, thanks for inadvertantly telling me you like and read my blog. Well, I guess that you don't necessarily have to like my blog to read it... I'll try to post more "funny" stuff soon.Leslie - lilkoala3http://www.blogger.com/profile/05782150851651830593noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8805221620196347289.post-70188331281799669162011-03-29T21:01:00.000-04:002011-03-29T21:01:35.743-04:00Aloe Vera plants and I'm a moronApparenly my blog has been broken for a month, and I only figured it out until now! People have been getting error messages when they try to leave me comments, and this is most likely due to the fact that I'm using a third-party template. I suppose I should have figured out that something was amiss when I went from having like eight comments on each of my posts to zero. But, well, I did have to repeat first grade. Thanks to Dawn over at Sketches in Thyme for letting me know via email. And all the rest of my loyal readers who did not infrom me of this issue (all two of you) are bad people. The kind of bad people who go to hell.

Did you know that you don't have to water aloe vera plants? Well, I haven't watered mine in six months, and it's still a lean, green, sunburn-fightin' machine!
And a cool one

Here's a layout that I made that I kind of hate. I made it for the challenge to use a monochromatic pink color scheme with splashes of yellow. But I missed another deadline... Anyway, I made it using a sketch from The Scrappiest.

I used this sketch from Handmade by Suzanne. I'm also entering this page in the open contest at Sketches in Thyme and the one word challenge at Challenge Masters ("lucky"). I was inspired to do this layout after seeing Natalie's layout at Lucky Girl Crafts. She used a black, red, and cream color scheme and decorative tabs, and the topic of her layout is a date night! I duplicated all of those things on my page. The limited color scheme was a challenge for me, but as I said, I'm quite fond of this page for some reason. Christy is very picky about where she sits when we crop at this store, and there are two other women who crop at MLPA that are just as willing to fight to the death for goods seats as she is. On this particular day, urged by Christy, I ran for the door, my scrapbook totes swinging in the wind, as fast as I could. Well, the next thing I know, I'm flying through the air like a skinny-assed version of the Goodyear blimp, and my stash of My Little Shoebox mini letter stickers are fanned out on the concrete like a deck of playing cards held by a drunk frat boy in Las Vegas. My jeans ripped. My favorite pair, no less, and I was bleeding from knees and palms. But as Christy remembers, "She just got back up and kept on running!" And guess what? We got the good seats.

So, that was the end of that pair of pants. Or so I thought! Inspired by the challenge at Let's Get Shabby to embellish a page with denim and lace (I used lace transparencies), I made a flower of them! And then I realized 5 minutes ago that I missed the deadline. Damn. Anyway, this was inspired by Lisa Harrolle's cute doggie layout at XOXO. It's also for this month's challenge at Kraft it Up, Mission 38 at Mission to Create, and I used the March sketch at Crafty Sketches.
